when i was a kid Arco was the huge event we only got to read about. we would wait for the latest issue to come out with coverage. here in the US it was pretty lame. so i would get ahold of VERTICAL magazine from france and mountain magazine from the UK for much better coverage.
i would love to go to this event some day.

the newest members of the vertical world climbing team
this was a great weekend. not only did we win the ABS National Team championship, but we also recruited some really strong new members.

2010 ABS national championships
just got back from washington DC where the team and I attended the ABS national championships. we had a great weekend. after a rough start, our kids pulled it together and came away winning the national team championship, again.
17 kids in total qualified for the 2 day event and we had 7 that made it to finals.
alex fritz placed 2nd and made national team. sam wolff placed 6th just missing national team. audrey hsu placed 4th and made national team. lil sid trinidad placed 2nd and made national team. melina costanza placed 3rd and made national team. victoria cartwright placed third and made national team. drew ruana (who barely sqeaked into finals in tenth place)was the only climber to flash all four finals problems and placed first and made national team.
our spirits after qualifiers were a little down as you can tell from the footage of alex, but obviously something came around.
very great result. i am very proud.
i get so stressed leading up to this event, it makes me hate it, but the minute i get there it all feels better. i do love this.

UMmmmmmmmm...........nationals?
here is a shot my friend claudiu sent me from the house he is staying at in DCwhen asked back in october what i thought about the nationals being on the east coast, i said that i would bet $100 it was going to snow and everyones flights were going to screwed up. well.......
i hope we can get out there.
but if not, little si this weekend. yes.

SOUNDERS PLAY THE @#$%IN' TIMBERS MARCH 11TH @ QWEST
our beloved SEATTLE SOUNDERS are going to taking on the PORTSCUM TIMBERS on march 11th at qwest field. this will be the opening game for us this year. it is non league but to most sounders fans this game will mean more than the rest. TICKETS ARE ONLY $10 SO GET EM ON WEDNESDAY MORNING. GO SOUNDERS!!!!!

little si today feb 6th
bret and jake and I went to the crag again today for a fitness check. it was beautiful, cold, windy and crowded. but it was still climbing outside in washington in february. we pretty much did the usual suspects and called it good. i did get my first run through pornstar though. its going to be hard i think but i was able to do all the moves if not first try then in a few. the crux took a handful of tries, but im psyched for it. i have to check much fitness before this goes down, but i feel like it can happen soon.

Heart of Steel comp in boston
our very own sydney mcnair decided to compete again and placed 3rd in a pretty strong/young open category at the boston rock gym. they had some pretty cool features that made for some exciting climbing. nice work syd.
