Dawgs spring game......Purple vs. White

fun times. Locker looked the same. Nick Montana looks promising but small. Keith Price looks great. cant wait for him. RB Demitrius Bronson was killing it. ran really well.

Marmot

the Marmot fairy came by the redmond gym the other day and i was super psyched to aquire this pretty amazing soft shell ROM jacket and a really nice Mica jacket.
this is a great combo set up. the ROM is a great layer for the rock climbing and with the windstopper it was great as a single layer while on my bike today. fully adjustable and really rad red. the Mica jacket literally rolls up and (as Ryan Spivey put it) fits in your mouth. i havent tried this yet but i did roll it up super small to fit into the pocket of my ROM jacket. on the way home from the Dawgs spring game it was pissing rain. i threw on the Mica over the ROM and was totally dry even while poppin wheelies through the u district on my bicycle. the hoods were big enough to fit over my helmet too. wonderful.
thanks to Ryan Spivey with marmot. these are great jackets.

HUSKY FOOTBALL....FRIDAY NIGHT 6:30PM

the dawgs will be playing their first spring game this friday night at husky stadium. starts at 6:30pm and tickets are free.
GO DAWGS!!!!!!

seriously

i would like to also suggest, that if you are so hot, that you need to take off your shirt to show yourself off, then dont wear jeans to climb in. this is a great look though, the shirt off, huge jeans look, really nice. better yet, top it off with shirt off, huge jeans and stocking cap/beanie. that is really the look to go for.
we all know what you are doing, so please stop it. it isnt working.

linus and dino having fun

the boys are having a good time together. dino has fallen in love with linus and linus is not as timid as you can see from the videos. they love playing with each other now. dino has needed someone with as much energy as him for a while. enzo just sits by and watches. i think he is laughing inside.

sunday

they keep saying how great our boys played today. i didnt see it, my wife didnt see it and my boy brian didnt see it. i thought they looked bad. but what do we know, oh yeah, they lost 2-0 to toronto.

we then went to little si, and pretty much climbed like the sounders played. the proj was wet. i went a dried the holds and thought they were good, but couldnt get on it for about an hour and a half. and by the time i got back up there, they were soaked again. this was frustrating. oh well, keeps my psyched to train during the week.

Linus fitting in just fine

our new boy linus is fitting in just fine with the family. his new brothers have gone from tolerating him to playing and running with him just like one of the pack. he is becoming much more outgoing and getting used to the house. he now jumps up on the couches and the bed (but not in the video for some reason).
we are very thankful. he is wonderful.

Sounders third kit!!!!

today the sounders announced their third colorway as required by the CCL. many people are hating it, but i love it.

Stimson Bullitt

one year ago today, our friend Stimson Bullitt passed away. Stimson was a good friend of my fathers and as well myself. he was an amazing figure in the local climbing community but more importantly he was an amazing figure for the city of Seattle. thank you stimson, for you all you did.

little si today

after spending a wonderful 4 days out climbing in utah with erik, it was really hard to get back in the swing of things here in the city. i can honestly say that i was a little depressed and not getting psyched on climbing around here again. but as usual, we headed out to little si. its been raining a bit here in seattle so as you can imagine the world wall was a little bit wet up top on the projects. but most all of the other lines were dry. it was like 70 degrees and beautiful out. the first day i climbed in shorts since the fall. best of all, i got my old climbing partner brian wilkin out to his old stomping ground at the world wall. alex and josh were there too. it was fun.
i did however get a parking ticket in the lot. i parked in the drainage ditch with my big ass truck and the cops gave me one. i saw one of them and flagged them down. he said he didnt do it and he wouldnt have, but the other guy does, and did. so beware the parking nazi at little si on the weekends.

the chocolate shoebox.......check it

after my wife and i had a great dinner as always at ARAYA'S we headed up to SIDECAR VEGAN GROCERY to get the boys their dog food and treats. when we were leaving we were reminded of a new vegan shoe store opening in phinney ridge. its called the chocolate shoebox and it is wonderful. their mens shoes are great with (finally) real dress shoes with real dress soles and a wonderful feel. they have a great ladies selection along with vegan handbags and vegan wallets belts, but most importantly, chocolates. we both came out with a new pair of shoes and i got a wallet. you must go to this place because it is wonderful, chic, and has that all around boutique feel that is becoming phinney ridge. the northend is the new hotness.
here is their yelp review and here is their facebook page.

more limestone........and some sheep

sounders.....away vs. real salt lake

more salt lake

salt lake trip

this past weekend i flew down to salt lake to spend time with my dear friends Erik and cinead kubiak. i grew up climbing with erik when he was in college and i was still in high school. years later, erik now lives in salt lake with cinead and they get to crush routes all the time.
Erik is pretty much my inspiration for oldguy.com. he embodies what it means to be oldguy.com. Erik put up most of the hard lines out at little si back in the 90s and continues to put up and climb at the mid 5.14 level. now he spends much of their free time bolting new lines at their area they have been developing over the past couple years. it is a pretty amazing place. i will let the video do the talking.
i flew in thursday morning and erik picked me up for a couple days of cave craggin. the first day went great. i felt really strong and psyched. i was able to flash 13a and all the 12s i got on. then i wanted to get on a couple projz and start something. got on this amazing 8a+/8b and then another 8b/8b+. they were both some of the best lines i have ever been on. that was day one. after day one i felt like i had been punched in the gut, a lot. we camped out there that night to get an early start the next day. i was pretty worked so we went up and bolted this new line. erik thinks its going to be good but i think it looks like mank. then we tried to climb. i was way worked from the day before. when you are working mon-fri and climbing one day on the weekend it is hard to get up for two brutal days outside. i am hoping to change this so i can be more productive. we drove back to salt lake friday night in prep for saturdays sounders gave vs. Real salt lake.
great game, fun times with the ECS away crew and a 2-2 tie, damn.
sunday we woke up and headed back out to the crag. i was worked, but managed to climb a bunch of pitches. didnt really do very well on my proj, but im confident that i should be able to do it with some more training and a trip back down.
i love going down there. it really is a great place. climbing is every where, but most importantly, i have someone who is super psyched to train and climb, and push me to my limits. Erik never lets me quit and never takes it easy. i need his push to make me better.i will post some video now and then over the next couple days. it will include climbing and sounders.

buck and the sprinter van

buck from EVOLV stayed at my house last night and cooked us great food. he is going around the country in the best vehicle i have ever seen. really you cannot deny that this is a road trip van we all want.

Evolv has been a huge supporter of myself and as well my rock climbing team for about 5 years now. i am super grateful to be a part of such a great company. i am really excited about what they are doing in this industry and for this sport.
thanks buck, brian and all those down there who help me and us out. you all are appreciated.

old school new school...kurt smith-chris lindner

when i was a kid kurt smith in all his mulleted glory, was somthing pretty spectacular. he was some one who was pushing. it was inspiring.
chris lindner, when i was a kid, was some one i competed against a couple times in so cal. he smoked me pretty good at a boulder comp at mount woodson. imagine that. i did get second, but really, i wasnt very close to the routes he was doing at the time, and i think he was about 7 years younger than i was.

linus van pelt

our boy linus is settling in just fine with his new brothers. he is learning the routine and having a wonderful time in his new forever home. i am so happy to be able to have given him a place with friends and love.
he came with the name linus and we didnt want to change it. he reminds me very much of lucy's brother from peanuts.
