Wayward Vegan Cafe
simply amazing. this place is so good. my wife and I just went to Lunch here at the Wayward. i have heard many tales but since we are not big going out to eaters, we have not gone there. this will change because of this place. the menu is spectacular, and what you see here is just some of it. i challenge anyone to go to this place and say it is not wonderful. great location, right across the street from Sidecar, and right in the U-district. i can see this being my new zone before husky games.
so check out Wayward on your next breakfast or lunch outing.

unlucky, unlucky, unlucky...........BS!!!!!
i am so sick of hearing that. you get unlucky every once in a while, but when it is game after game after game, you just dont have things right. very disappointed tonight. on another note, we went and saw Robin Hood. it was pretty good.

a little frustrated
after feeling like i was in the best shape of my life, ready to send proj after proj, i have felt the seattle hate. the inability to stay psyched, with the inability to stay dry, are going hand in hand. i cannot fathom how anyone has ever gotten any sends in the spring out at the little si. pretty much everything high up seeps, and pretty much everything high is all im trying to do.
please rain, stop coming down so i can get psyched again and try to send the projz. its very hard to train and diet and stay focused week after week only to have it rain on the weekend or have the holds be wet.
i love it here, i will never leave. but this really is hard to deal with right now.

Sounders crush Boca Juniors 3-0
what an amazing game tonight. our boys really showed what we have been missing for quite some time. they showed heart, enthusiasm, and the ability to score goals.
Boca played rather poorly, but it was still very much exciting to see one of the worlds best.
bring on Celtic, july 18th.
i love these friendlies. i cannot wait until the Sounders are big enough to play these guys for real in the fifa club world cup

Sigi finally starts calling some people out in the media
its seems our big boss is finally taking some steps to call out our lackadaisical players. come on boys, we need this.
(Post-game message to team...) "I think we all need to look inside ourselves and ask ourselves why it takes 10-15 minutes before we start playing. We have to look at ourselves as to why we spend game time to argue insistently with referees. We've got ask ourselves, if a guy hits a bad pass, why we throw up our hands and stop playing for a second? I think we need to ask ourselves why sometimes if we lose a ball, we don't react right away and make a second effort and third effort, because we always want to do it on the first effort. Just all of us, that includes staff, that includes players, we need to ask ourselves why we can't do it better? Last week in New York, we were a good collective and I thought in the final 70 minutes we were a decent collective, but yet you can't take 15-20 minutes off. It's like if you go into a movie, you can't every four to five minutes close your eyes for 30 seconds and shut down your ears and not listen. At the end of the day, you don't know what the movie's about any more. I think we lose the plot in the game because we shut down. It's little things, you have Steve Zakuani outside with the ball for a throw-in and he had his shoulder surgically repaired so he can't really throw the ball in yet no one comes over and says, maybe I should throw the ball in for you because you have a bad shoulder. Patrick Ianni has the shortest arms on the team and they want him to throw the ball in. It's little things like that tell me you're not 100 percent in tune and that's what we've got to look at."

another dissapointment from our Sounders.
was so upset about our loss today, that i decided to spend 6 hours with a chainsaw cutting down the 25ft tree in our front yard. thanks adam for helping me clean up the mess i made.
our boys are not playing well at all. really not psyched. if my rock climbing team played that badly, there would be many changes made, but we are not seeing many changes at all from the Sigi and the front office. please guys, lets fix this problem.

regionals at bremerton gym
spent last wednesday, thursday and friday taking a ferry over to bremerton with my good friend mike helt
he is gracious enough to come up and chief for most of my events. mike is having a hell of a year. he chiefed for ABS youth nationals, is going to be a setter for the big boys and girls at world cup in vail, and is also chiefing the SCS youth nationals in Atlanta at stone summit.
i have come to the realization that i really only like doing these when mike comes to help. he stays at my house and we get to spend man time together. he is a good friend and i trust him to make sure our events go off top notch.
i wanted to thank the folks in bremerton for making this event happen. notably Ross Halverson and Candace edmonston (sp?). they go way above and beyond for these things. i really am baffled by their dedication. i cant wait to steal them for our seattle gym ;)
candace was able to wrangle together 65 volunteers for this event. i am pretty sure that is unheard of. we didnt have to use any of the team parents from other teams or anything like that. the community out there in bremerton is amazing. thanks to all those involved.
hansen came out to set and is really coming along. bret as usual set some lines. i guess when you do this enough with the same great crew, it becomes like clockwork. we were on the 3 oclock ferry on friday. everything dialed.
the event went off great. no problems, a couple super finals that were easy to do. some setters think supers are a sign of bad setting. i disagree. i think they add a great element to the event. the kids love it, the parents love it.
our team won the regional championship again. ready for divisionals? im not sure, but we will find out soon enough.

Turnpike Pizza
after the zoo, we went back to moms to watch the black hawk game.
we decided to try out Turnpike Pizza
a while ago they sent us a menu and plastered on the front was "vegan friendly menu".
we ordered the Greenlake pizza vegan edition. it was amazing. really really good. we have started to go back to Pizza-pi vegan pizzeria, and Turnpike rivaled it for sure.
turnpike is in a great location across from the playfields at evans pool on greenlake. should be a hot summer spot. go there.
happy mothers day
my wife had a great idea of cooking up a wonderful brunch for my mom, marshal and saradel and her family. it was great. my wife cooked a vegan strata, had some vegan sausages, a great fruit salad and best of all, home made donuts that rivaled the mighty o's.
after that we headed to the zoo for a day of remembrance and animal loving.
i grew up across the street from the zoo until i was about 6 yrs old. it was my back yard and i believe we went a few days a week, literally.

erden around and over...great post
our friend erden had some great words to say on his blog as he is still traveling around and over.
I will take the 12 km side trip to the shore in an attempt to see these whales. I truly hope that I can spot some of this season’s early arrivers so I can better tell their story. As I read about the oil rig disaster unfolding in the Gulf of Mexico, I am sadly reminded once again of the callous handling of our environment as human beings. Without exception, commercial interests downplay the disaster risks for financial gain; governments play up the strategic gains by fear mongering; we hear of job creation as a populist rallying cry by politicians to gain votes when often only a handful of jobs are involved at the expense of entire ecosystems. The cardinal first rule of any profession: “do no damage” does not apply and we watch helplessly as some still cry “drill baby drill.” A huge steamroller of industrial momentum leaves carnage in its wake; whopping treasures are made by select few with little supervision where local communities inherit poisoned wells and destroyed ecosystems, without sufficient compensation to make up for what they have lost. Besides could we as humanity put a price at all on any lost species or ecosystems?
I had mentioned earlier the Steve Irwin Wildlife Reserve which is currently being pandered to strip mining for its bauxite riches. The calving areas of the humpback whales of Kimberley are now under threat due to proposed industrial activity. If we propose to ruin their calving habitats then do not give these gentle giants of the oceans a break on the high seas by hunting their last few remaining individuals, what chance do they have to be around for our grandchildren? Don’t we as human beings of this generation, have a responsibility to leave this world as a better place for our own children? Don’t they have the right to hear the same thrilling sounds, see the same majestic sights and experience the breathtaking wonders of nature as we have?

OMFG the sounders looked horrible, but montano did not
our boys got destroyed today by the LA galaxy. 4-0. too many mistakes and not enough....of anything really.
one really bright spot was the introduction of miguel montano to the sounders. he came on in the 60th minute and really made an impact. he looked like something we have been hoping for.
Miguel Montaño - Sounders FC Forward
(On how he played . . .) "I feel really good. I went into the field with a lot of enthusiasm. I think it was noted. I feel really good. I try really hard. It was my first game in MLS and with the Sounders and I felt very good about it. I tried to do my best but of course the result didn't come with us so I hope that for next game we will do better. That was disappointing for me."
(On entering game down three goals . . .) "Yes, I knew that we were down but I still entered the field with a lot of enthusiasm and we needed a goal - attack, attack, attack. I was doing my best to do that. Now we know that we need to do it better. We need the wins and we are going to try for that."
(On earning more playing time . . .) "It's not just about the game that we had today. I know that I have to keep working day-by-day to keep earning my position and I 'm going to keep working in that direction."

Sounders 1-1 against Crew
probably the best game ive seen them play. one mistake in the back and its a tie. but our boys played spectacularly and i was super happy with the formation. 4-3-3 is something sigi needs to do regularly. it was great. really great game.
