goodbye my friend

the first car i got in high school was an aircooled '82 vanagon. i took that car all over. snowboarding in the mountains to dead shows in california. it started my love affair with VWs but most of all with the transporter style bus's. i didnt drive for a few years because i lived downtown and worked downtown, so i didnt need a car, but i then had a '90 carat vanagon that made a couple bishop trips and many trips to squamish. i got rid of that cuz i bought my beloved jetta and that was that. then in 2005 a friend told me of their friend who was getting their bus towed to the crusher. it didnt run and they were over it. well i went and got it and spent the money to put it back on the road. new motor, wiring brakes and bunch of other things. i drove it quite a bit over the years but other than taking it to a few VW shows i never really used it for what it was meant to be used for. this last week a young couple came to take a look at it. they were the exactly the people i built this bus for. they want to spend some time with it replacing all the little things to make take it back to its road trip glory. they are planning on taking an endless road trip in march and this bus is what they want to do it in. i am so very happy for them and so very happy that this old girl was saved from the crusher and put back on the road for many years and many more miles. thanks tyler, you and your lady will be having a great time.
ive owned many VWs but i always get a little weepy when i get rid of the buses. they have a special place in my heart and will always have a place in my driveway.
